How to Sign Up for Volunteer Shifts
Make sure you're certified.
This includes passing your Standards of Conduct test, Intake/Interview & Quality Review test, and Basic or Advanced test. You will also need to submit a background check form and share your completed form 13615 (when uploading form 13615, please make sure to save it to your computer, open it, fill out the top portion with your personal information, then save it before uploading. Otherwise your form may upload blank).
This can all be done through InSync during training. You will receive an email from us once your certifications have been approved.
Choose a tax prep site.
Visit the Volunteer Tax Preparer Shift Sign Up page and select the site where you would like to volunteer. You can do this by clicking the blue tile with each tax prep site's name. Click the "learn more about this site" button to view the location on a map and explore more information.
Sign up using CERVIS, hosted right on the Resources page.
You will see blue tiles listing all of our tax prep sites. Clicking on a site will take you directly to its registration page on CERVIS, which is hosted on the Accounting Aid Resources page.
Scroll down and select the "Sign In" button to log into CERVIS. If this isn't completed, it will appear that there aren't any volunteer opportunities.
Select the green square icon labeled “Sign Up” to register for shifts. On the next page, select your name from the menu labeled “Select a Volunteer Below” (sometimes at this point you may be taken to a listing of all our volunteer sites. If this occurs, simply choose the site you are looking for). Select your shifts. Click register. You will receive an automatic email confirming your volunteer shift.
Want to sign up a full day? Select multiple shifts on the same day!
Please remember that we depend on you to fill appointment slots and for that reason, we ask that you give at least 48 hours’ notice for all cancellations. You can unregister yourself from a shift at any time by clicking the link in your confirmation email.
If you are looking for Quality Reviewer and Site Coordinator shifts, you can access those by just searching directly on CERVIS.
