About Tax-a-Thon

The goal of Tax-a-Thon is to expand capacity on these two days for Detroit residents who have not yet filed taxes.


This is a new annual activity guaranteed to generate excitement, sponsored by the City of Detroit and part of the Mayor's EITC campaign. 


 By signing up as a Volunteer Tax Preparer, you have the opportunity to serve alongside many other Accounting Aid Society volunteers in a groundbreaking new community endeavor.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided!

Volunteer roles

Volunteer Tax Preparer

Directly touch lives by preparing taxes face-to-face with community members. Serve on a large team at the event with others that share your passion for community and financial empowerment.  

Quality Reviewer

Use your experience, skills, and advanced training to give the final check on returns and assist with questions.

Help grow and lead new volunteers.

Host/Crowd Control

Make the day successful by managing the flow of clients as they move from intake to tax prep.  Perfect for a highly organized person who likes to work on their feet!


Meet with clients before they sit down with a Preparer to collect their information and make sure they have the correct documents. You make the preparation run smoothly!
